Where is vedder mountain

The traverse to Olds was trickier and longer than we thought and then we took another chance to descend another unknown route to close in the loop. The descent was just as bushy as the ascent. About 3. Long ass drive to escape the coastal rain to Lillooet, Clinton and Cache Creek areas. We left North Vancouver at 3 am and back to White Rock at pm. A total of under 6 hours of hiking. The rest all driving. One Ribu and two Pm objectives down. Fons Peak actually a fun hike and Pavilion is a cool road walk.

Got to put snowshoes on first time this season. Vedder Peak Vedder Mountain. As typical as it gets. Another short descent. Contouring around that pond. This is the pond…. The pond is not very exciting…. Ascending the first fixed rope. This is the second fixed rope. Me on the summit of Vedder Peak. Back to the typical forested descent now. Hiking down that wooden staircases. Typical, typical…. You gotta love trees…. Back to the trail-head. Very well marked trail. Nice gradual ups and downs and a fun little rope set up at the end!

Toon us 4. The trail was amazing, very well marked and very well maintained! Was nice. Some rope parts were new to me, a bit of a challenge, but a fun new adventure. Beautiful forest walk up a small mountain.

Nice sized second growth, some newer 30ish year old woods, as well as a couple of cuts from 10 or so years that we walked past, and enjoyed the light it allowed in. Well maintained trail- one of the best of the year, so far….

It was a bit confusing as to where to park. There was lots of vehicles on the service road parked for dirt biking. We kept going further, in my Ford fusion car, and got to almost the entrance of the trail. A couple cars parked there and it's easy to tell you need a high clearance 4 by 4 to go the rest of the way.

So we parked and walked the 1km to the entrance. The beginning of the trail was a bit overgrown but once you get into the trees it was lovely and a great path that was marked by the very helpful orange markers on the trees. The first lookout was a 1 hour hike to, we kept going to the second one, where we had to use the ropes to go up the rock, that view was spectacular! Took an extra half an hour from the first view point. Once you get to the top though, do search around for the view point spot.

We almost missed it! Great hike though and the bugs were totally fine. We barely saw any wildlife. Not that many people on the trail either and we got there at 11am.

I was worried about bringing my dog after reading mixed reviews. Medium sized dog. Well marked and well maintained trail as mentioned. Only made it to the yarrow lookout but the view was still spectacular!

Will continue to the peak another day as I had my baby with me. Just to the Yarrow lookout and back was 2 hours which was the perfect little hike for this afternoon.

Also worth mentioning that the trail only had 2 other people on it. June 15 This is a fabulous winding undulating forest trail. Well marked and well maintained.

Well done VMTA!! Misty day post rain so no view for me today but I know there is a spectacular one up there hiding behind the clouds. Saw a unicorn too!! Just did this yesterday, such a nice trail. Lots of up and down elevation gains. Good workout. Some pretty good views. Saw two deer to start our hike on the logging road. This was a great trail. I didn't expect much based on elevation gain and length but it's a lot of fun. It's not bad at all.

Though we noticed the road up isn't brutal, there were a few spots that looked rough but we probably would have been ok. There was also plenty of parking up there. There's a lot of dirtbike and ATV action when you start, but this trail takes you away from all that noise.

Most of the trail is really smooth and well maintained, I don't run but it looks like a great trail for it no roots to trip over.. It was a Saturday morning and saw just a handful of other people.

Few bugs. No wildlife. Fantastic hike! A great moderate hike with many view points, space and comfortable trail to walk on. Gets semi-busy close to 11am.

Views of both Chilliwack and mount Baker are great. Few bugs on the way, not a big issue though. Nice forest trail. More easy than moderate. Drive to trailhead if you can - 4x4!! Great trail! No view today, but rolling elevation and really fun scramble at the top. Beautiful hike with rewarding views. Perfect on a hot sunny day as the trees offer some good protection. This trail is fantastic, with the many rolling hills that give hikers enough elevation to give you a workout but also being easy enough that you can really enjoy it. The views along the route, with the top views being the best, are really special and unique to the area. There are a few nice viewpoints along the way too, making this hike well worth the trip to the area for both experienced and novice folks.

The ropes at the end are not too crazy, but as usual on the descent can be a little trickier on the way down, but become a really good introduction for more challenging alpine hiking for new folks. Since parts of this trail can be snowy and icy most of the year, hikers do say that this trail is known to be one of the more slippery hikes in the area - so wear good shoes.

Between June and August, the summit of Vedder Mountain will be very buggy - so bring layers and bug spray. The road up to the trailhead is a dirt road and accessible by only vehicles with some clearance to make it up the final portion of this backcountry road. Vedder Mountain is located in Chilliwack, BC.
