Although Tia is not amongst the final party members, it is recommended to upgrade her equipment and spell list every now and then as she can be a very useful party member as long as she is in the party as she can do it pretty well as an offensive mage or playing a support role.
In the remake, Tia is no longer magical oriented. Her main weapons are suitcases , which are pretty powerful. Her special attack, besides inflicting heavy damage, can be used to jump across gaps and pits if hooked on the other side. Setting her board correctly with Mystic Stones can make Tia one of the strongest characters in game.
